This is a review for the new Jacobs cracker crisps product. I trialled all 3 flavours Thai sweet chilli, sea salt and balsamic vinegar, and sour cream and chives. I should note that whilst I was not paid for this review I did receive one large sharing bag of each flavour as well as some money of vouchers in return for my honest opinion on the product. All opinions are my own and honest in my opinion.
The first thing that struck me about the product was the attractive packaging. They are presented in nice bright vibrant colours which made me want to dive in and get started straight away. The first bag we tried was the sea salt and balsamic vinegar variety. Unfortunately I am unable to eat salt due to a medical condition so I relied on my 3 boys to help me out on this flavour and they were only to happy to help lol. They informed me that they really enjoyed the flavour and would I put them on the shopping list for them to have again. From a mother's point of view the size of the bag was perfect for my 3 boys and the bag of cracker crisps would make a welcome change when watching a film together instead of the usual popcorn. I tried the Thai sweet chilli variety and have to be honest I really did not like them in fact I spat the product into the bin. This being said I really don't enjoy any spicy food product. My eldest son on the other hand informed me I was mad and that they were delicious lol. He was certainly happy to finish off the bag himself and as with the sea salt variety he has asked for me to buy these again. We then tried the sour cream and chives variety on a recent picnic and in my opinion this was the best of the 3 flavours. The product was intensely flavoursome and had an air of luxury about it. The one thing we couldn't agree on was the texture. Was it a cracker or was it a crisp ? The best way I could describe the texture would be a crisp encased in a cracker shell but you will have to taste the product for yourself and make your own determination on that one. The regular retail price on this product is £1.99 and in my opinion that is way to high. Whilst the product is nice I do not think it is worth that sort of money. I would like to see it priced at around the £1.00 mark in order for it to feature on my shopping list regularly or £1.50 as the occasional treat at a push.
So would I recommend Jacobs cracker crisps to you all ? Unfortunately no I would not or at least not at its current price. I just do not feel they are worthy enough of that kind of price tag.
Currently on offer in Tesco at £1 per bag.
Kind regards
